We’ve been in our new house for two months now (wow, that has flown) and have almost finished painting all the rooms – just the kitchen to go. Phew, it has felt like a slog, but the place is looking lovely with a bit of fresh colour where once yellowy beige reigned.
Now it’s time for the fun stuff – actually decorating the walls with pretty things and adding a personal touch. I can’t wait to get our pictures and photographs up.
But first, I find myself with an uncontrollable need to… put up shelves. I feel this must be a sign that I’ve finally reached true maturity. I’ve never been so excited about such a simple interiors feature before.
I blame Pinterest. All those amazing #shelfies. How’s a girl to resist? Of course, it’s not actually about the shelves themselves, but the beautiful arrangements of things you put on them. Flowers, candles, books, framed pictures, the potential is endless. So it’s off to Ikea we go tomorrow, possibly to pick up the iconic ‘Lack’ or one of its friends. At about £10 a shelf, it’d be rude not to.
And in the meantime, here’s a bit of inspo for fellow #shelfie fans (pics from Pinterest)…
